Abstract

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has brought significant changes to the world of education, including in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning. The use of AI provides new opportunities to improve the quality of learning through personalized materials, the development of interactive media, and increasing the effectiveness of learning evaluation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Artificial Intelligence in Islamic Religious Education learning, identify opportunities that can be utilized, and examine the various challenges faced in its implementation. The study uses a qualitative approach with a library research method through the analysis of various scientific literature, books, and research results related to the use of AI technology in education. The results show that the implementation of AI in PAI learning has the potential to increase learning motivation, strengthen the understanding of religious concepts, and assist teachers in designing adaptive and innovative learning. However, there are several challenges that need to be considered, such as limited teacher digital competence, ethical aspects of technology use, potential student dependence on technology, and the need to integrate spiritual values in the use of AI. Therefore, an appropriate implementation strategy is needed through increasing educators' digital literacy, strengthening technology-based education regulations, and developing PAI learning models that remain oriented towards character building and Islamic values. This research is expected to provide a conceptual contribution in the development of technology-based Islamic Religious Education learning in the digital era
