Abstract

The Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach emphasizes initial assessment to group students based on their actual ability level, ensuring effective learning that enhances motivation, achievement, and critical skills such as problem-solving. The Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach for junior high school mathematics adapts instruction based on students' initial abilities to address diverse learning needs. TaRL considers the abilities and needs of each student. The primary goal of Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) is to optimize learning outcomes through differentiation and ensure each student can learn effectively and efficiently, and achieve optimal results. The one-cycle CAR method includes developing a lesson plan, initial assessment, design adjustments, implementation, and summative assessment for the next cycle. The implementation of TaRL results in increased student motivation due to challenges that are appropriate to their abilities, improved achievement, and future preparation through critical thinking. Students become accustomed to and easily engage with learning. This approach is recommended for a differentiation-based junior high school curriculum
